Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses
“Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses”
A lesson in English Paper Piecing
Join us for a fun morning of exploring the visual beauty of the “Patchwork of the Crosses” blocks. Learn to do the English paper piecing technique (hand sewing), and apply it to these blocks. You will add your own individual creativity and flair to make one block using the fabrics, tools and techniques that are available to us today.
Supply List:
-
Fat quarters or scraps of 6-7 coordinating fabrics. We will be fussy-cutting some of the petals, so keep this in mind when selecting your fabrics. Stripes, large prints and border fabrics are all fun to work with, but you might want to throw in some more basic fabrics to compliment the prints.
-
A variety of thread colors to match your fabrics (we like to use silks and Aurifil, but 60 wt. cotton works well too)
-
Honeycomb template (1”)
-
Honeycomb paper pieces (1”}
-
Mechanical pencil and/or pen for tracing the template onto your fabric
-
Sharp fabric scissors
-
Fabric glue stick
-
Applique needles
-
